  1. 01

    What has leadership committed to deliver this year? Quote the plan or goal if you can.

  2. 02

    One to three numbers. Include today's baseline, the target and the date.

  3. 03

    Which steps, handoffs and decisions have to change? Where does time pile up?

  4. 04

    Where does each piece of information live, and who owns it?

  5. 05

    The smallest set of tools that closes the gap. Note what you already own.

  6. 06

    Who owns it, what happens in the next two weeks, and the result at which you would stop.

Three rules

  • If you cannot fill in box 01, stop. The project is not ready.
  • If box 02 has no baseline, measuring it is your first task.
  • Fill box 05 last. Every tool should trace back to a number in box 02.
